In the first session, your therapist will typically ask about your background, current issues, and goals for therapy. It’s an opportunity for you to get to know your therapist, discuss your concerns, and ask any questions. This session helps build a foundation for a collaborative and effective therapeutic relationship.
The length of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some people may benefit from short-term therapy (6-12 sessions) to address a specific issue, while others may engage in longer-term therapy for deeper self-exploration or ongoing support. Your therapist will work with you to set realistic goals and timeframes.
Yes, therapy is confidential. Therapists are legally and ethically bound to protect your privacy, with a few exceptions:
· If there is a risk of harm to yourself or others
· In cases of suspected abuse or neglect
· If there is a court order requiring disclosure of information
Your therapist will explain confidentiality policies in detail during your first session.
IVE Mental Health Treatment therapists who are not medical doctors (like psychologists or counselors) cannot prescribe medication. However, they may collaborate with a psychiatrist or your primary care doctor to discuss whether medication could be beneficial for you, alongside therapy.
It’s common to feel emotionally raw or vulnerable when starting therapy, as you begin to explore difficult feelings and experiences. This doesn’t mean therapy isn’t working; it can be a normal part of the healing process. Communicate openly with your therapist about how you’re feeling so they can support you through it and adjust their approach if necessary.
Therapy with IVE Menatl Health Treatment costs $125 per 60 minutes session plus tax for self-pay. We also work with multiple health insurance providers and offer sliding scale fees based on income. It’s important to check with your insurance provider about mental health coverage or inquire with the therapist about payment options.
